Odd thing happened today...

While out trying to farm a green in The Shattered Ravine I came across a lone shortbow lying on the ground next to my mark (prior to anything dying there). This had to be about the sixth or seventh time that I had come to the area without anything like this happening before (or since). The bow is as follows

(blue) Zehtuka's Shortbow
15-28 (req 9)
Inscription: none

Yeah, no mods, no inscription, nothing to make this bow appear like it is anything beyond a normal shortbow (same skin) aside from the prefix (Zehtuka's).

Anyone happen to be able to shed some light on this strange happening?

Probably quest related. Nothing on Wiki about it. Can you post a map of where you found it??

Tihark Orchard (Mission)

If you talk with The Great Zehtuka he will tell you that he is going on a hunting safari into Desolation to get one of the wurms that live there. Later in the game if you go to the northeastern most part of Desolation you can find his Pack, Bow and his Great Horn just laying on the ground. Presumably he has met a nasty fate.

I thought it might be quest related as well, however I didn't get any "xxx Quest Updated" messages when picking it up. Also, it's not listed as a quest item and can be equipped.

Here's the map wiki provides, leads right to where the bow was lying (ended up taking 2+ hours to get the drop I wanted, only once was this blue bow present..not the first time, not the last time, but about 30 minutes in).

Haven't added any mods/inscriptions (assuming it can be mod'ed/inscribed).

Any info is appreciated.

Ahh ha, so this is kind of like gwens broken flute? Do the items just show up randomly then? Very interesting, game lore coming back into play...unfortunately I do not recall speaking with Zehtuka about his hunting expedition.

There is also a quest in Torment that you're suppose to find him, and people think these items are tied to him/elite mission. There are 4 of them scattered and random dropping over every area and the shortbow is rare I guess so hang on to it just in case.

We were farming yesterday in the bone palace area and we found Zahtuka's backpack. All it said on it is Holds 10 items. Do you think this is related to the other items?

Speaking of the dude, I ran into this guy last night in Jahai Bluffs. After my party slaughtered a huge pack of low level lions and lionesses, the "Great Zehtuka" claimed he was about to tackle the entire pack himself, but didn't want to ruin the nice Canthan shirt he received from a fan! He offered a quest for him to take me on a tour of Bluffs, and show off landmarks of his adventures! I didn't take the quest (I was on my way to do the Demon Hunting quest Master of Whispers offered), but I'll check back later and take him up on his offer.

Based on the dialogue, Zehtuka is pretty arrogant and full of BS, so I'm not surprised of what becomes of his fate later on!

I now have 4 items and some map locations where some of them were found, Thanks to: Jonic Camu [PNOY] for letting me buy a Jug and Bow for 40k, and to Ale Slugger [DoRk] who donated a Jug free of charge.

My guess is that they don't want anyone to do this quest yet, and it's more than likely part of either the new content coming or the elite mission. It will be interesting.
